You need to preach the plan to your team – ingrain it. Overall, in the end, you need them to buy into it. If they don’t buy into it, it won’t work. You need them to want to be an important part of determining the values, vision, and ultimately, what you’re trying to create as an organization.
The book “Traction” by Gino Wickman is highly recommended for good reason. In this book, he talks about having a 10-year target, a 3-year picture, a 1-year plan, and quarterly rocks. Nexus IT practices this method and truly believes in its ability to create success.
First and foremost, it’s vital to have a defined direction and product and/or service. Once you have a plan in place, you need to manage it, measure it, and evaluate it on a monthly or quarterly basis. Then you need to adjust when it’s not functioning the way you want.
